Assessment:
Frequently called an 揺valuation? an assessment analyzes a person's communication skills. At GHC, we administer a comprehensive, individual, diagnostic battery. We obtain information from a variety of sources including parent interview, observations, standardized tests, hearing screening, cognitive screening, and play-based assessments. Following the evaluation, we provide a written report detailing the results, diagnosis and treatment plan for an articulation, language, voice, or fluency disorder.
Diagnosis:
A person needing speech-language therapy could be diagnosed with a disorder, delay, or difference. A speech language disorder is a condition that inhibits normal communication as compared to peers of the same age, gender, and culture. A speech or language delay is the development of speech in a normal pattern at a slower rate. A speech difference is normal production of speech that differs from others due to the influence of another language, region or culture. At GHC, we offer services for all three diagnoses.
Treatment Plans:
A treatment plan, also known as a 搕herapy plan? outlines the specific needs of the client and states the goals of therapy. At GHC, we target areas that are most relevant and functional for each client. Progress reports detailing the client's improvement are provided regularly. Previous therapy plans and input from other professionals are always considered in designing the most appropriate program.
Individual/Group Sessions:
We use a variety of techniques at GHC to provide effective, enjoyable therapy. Individual sessions provide intensive therapy to promote maximum progress. Motivating games, home training materials, manipulatives, and computer programs make sessions appealing to all ages. Group sessions are provided to meet the specific needs of the client including social interaction, peer modeling, and generalization of skills. The majority of sessions are conducted in our facility; however sessions can be provided at school as scheduling permits.
Parent Teacher Conferences:
GHC is dedicated to meeting the individual needs of our clients and their families. We are committed to provide flexible scheduling options. Speech therapist will review progress and provide training to families on regular basis. Consultations with teachers, physicians, and other professionals also can be scheduled to coordinate services.
